Matar paneer (No onion/garlic)

Matar paneer is a delicious Indian curry prepared with cottage cheese and peas which are usually simmered in tomato and onion based gravy. This curry tastes equally good when its made with tomato based gravy minus onion/garlic. Cashews make this dish super creamy and also balance tangy tomatoes with its sweetness. It pairs really well with flatbreads like chapatis, naan, tandorri roti, parantha and rice. I love eating it next day with bread. I feel it tastes even better the next day, somehow flavour develops more. Its hearty, healthy, flavourful and perfect for weekday meals. Matar Paneer is one of my favourite Indian curries. As a kid, I was kinda fussy when it came to eating roti sabzi but I would always get excited at the sight of matar paneer. This creamy matar paneer made with tomato and cashew based gravy is a regular in our house specially during festivals like Diwali, Holi, Sankarat and Navratri when we avoid using onion and garlic in kitchen. Since Navratri is...

Pesto fusilli with balsamic cherry tomatoes

Pasta to me is ultimate comfort food. Tossed up in flavourful marinara sauce or just olive oil+ garlic+ mixed herbs, I can very happily devour a massive portion anytime. Beauty of pasta dishes is that you don't have to do too much to it. It gets ready almost in a flash and each time you are in for a treat! This recipe is also on the same lines. While pasta is boiling away, prepare balsamic cherry tomatoes and fresh basil pesto. Its as simple as that. If you have pesto ready with you, then it won't even take that long. Serve it cold or hot, either way it tastes delicious and one of my favourite ways to eat pasta. FYI- I think pasta and pesto are made for each other! I didn't even realize when I started relating with Italian flavours so much. May be because I love tomatoes and Italian food to an extent revolves around tomatoes. It also might be because of the heavenly aroma of Extra virgin olive oil + garlic together which captivates the entire kitchen. Or may be ...

Cream of Mushroom soup

I know winters have almost disappeared from Mumbai but northern part of India has suddenly started experiencing cold waves again. I really crave for soup in cold weather. I recently made this mushroom soup at my parent's place in Rajasthan. This soup is so so easy to make and so delicious. Its warmth is going to comfort you in this chilly weather. Mushrooms are my favourite vegetable. I love its earthy flavour and it comes out even better in this creamy soup. Even if you are not a fan of mushrooms, try this soup. It will win you over with its simplicity and creaminess, not to forget how delicious it is! It surprises me that I haven't shared a recipe using mushrooms in such a long time. My family is not really fond of mushrooms but if u ask me, I just need a reason to eat them! There are hundreds of varieties of mushrooms but sadly only button mushrooms are easily accessible in India. I love mushrooms in warm salads, crostini, soup, pasta, pizza, risotto. Since mushroom...

Strawberry and grape salad in Orange vinaigrette - Vegan+Gluten free

Forgive me if I have been bombarding my instagram and facebook page with photos of strawberries! I want to make most of this pretty fruit while it's still available. My morning these days start with this delicious Strawberry smoothie and I can't tell you how good I feel from inside after having it! From Pizzas and desserts to fried feta cheese at beautiful greek restaurant Thalasaa, I overindulged during my recent trip to Goa. I am that kind of person who feels guilty very easily about eating unhealthy! So I have been eating a lot of salad since I came back, especially Watermelon and feta cheese salad , Carrot salad and Raw Papaya salad . I am really on a salad spree! I believe in consuming a lot of seasonal produce. Fruits are something I can have all day. Grapes and oranges are  also making their presence felt these days. So here I am sharing yet another recipe using strawberries but there's grapes and oranges too!  Dressed in orange juice vinaigrette, thi...
