Pear and Apple Salad in Spicy honey-lime dressing { Gluten-free +Vegan +Jain}

Pear and Apple salad in Spicy honey-lime dressing

Packed with high nutrition, fruits are great for snacking. My evening snack always includes a cup of green tea and fruits. I love fruits and love them even more with a delicious dressing. The tangy white wine vinegar in this salad does magic over raisins which become chewy, sweet and sour all at the same time. Yum!

Making salad dressing is as simple and as fast as shaking up a jar. Salad dressing is nothing but emulsion of oil, vinegar and other flavours. Extra virgin olive oil works best for making a dressing. When it comes to vinegar, you can use balsamic, white wine vinegar, red wine vinegar, sherry vinegar, rice vinegar and lemon juice. Mustard, garlic, chilli, pepper, jam, ginger, soy sauce could be other flavours you can add to the dish.

INGREDIENTS (Serves 1)

  1. Apple- 1
  2. Pear- 1
  3. Pomegranate - 1/4th cup
  4. Raisins- 1/4th cup
  5. Extra virgin olive oil- 2 Tbsp
  6. White wine vinegar- 1 Tbsp
  7. Chilli flakes- 1 Tsp
  8. Honey- 1 Tsp
  9. Salt to taste

METHOD

  • Slice apples and pears and arrange them in a salad tray or plate.

  • Next scatter raisins and pomegranate over apple and pear.

  • Take a jar and add olive oil, white wine vinegar, salt, chilli flakes and honey. Cover with a lid and shake till well blended.

  • Pour the dressing over the salad evenly. You can store this dressing in fridge for few days. Just make sure to shake it again before pouring over the salad.

Home made salad dressing is way better than the store bought dressing which is full of preservatives. Whisking your own dressing with the desired flavour takes less than five minutes.

Keep that smile on your face :)
