Strawberry and grape salad in Orange vinaigrette - Vegan+Gluten free

Forgive me if I have been bombarding my instagram and facebook page with photos of strawberries! I want to make most of this pretty fruit while it's still available. My morning these days start with this delicious Strawberry smoothie and I can't tell you how good I feel from inside after having it! From Pizzas and desserts to fried feta cheese at beautiful greek restaurant Thalasaa, I overindulged during my recent trip to Goa. I am that kind of person who feels guilty very easily about eating unhealthy! So I have been eating a lot of salad since I came back, especially Watermelon and feta cheese salad , Carrot salad and Raw Papaya salad . I am really on a salad spree! I believe in consuming a lot of seasonal produce. Fruits are something I can have all day. Grapes and oranges are  also making their presence felt these days. So here I am sharing yet another recipe using strawberries but there's grapes and oranges too!  Dressed in orange juice vinaigrette, thi...

Namkeen ghoogri chaat - Wheat berry Indian risotto

Gajar ka halwa, sarsoon ka saag, pao bhaji, ladoo - I love devouring in comfort food during winters. People have a myth that ghee is bad for health. On the contrary, ghee keeps us healthy if we eat it in moderation. I have a belief that body metabolism increases during winters, why else would we be able to digest ghee enriched food and sweets like til-gur ka ladoo and gaund ka ladoo. I hate it when people criticize Indian food and call it heavy and oily. Indian cuisine incorporates oils, whole grains, spices which has numerous health beenfits. It utilizes seasonal produce to the fullest. My best friend's mom introduced me to this dish. This dish originated in Udaipur city of Rajasthan. The day I shot these pictures was the 5th time in a row I made it for Sunday breakfast in my new house. All my brother-in-law eats on Sunday is this! This dish gets it deep flavour from cinnamon powder. I usually don't prefer cinnamon in savoury dishes but it works really well in this ...

Bruschetta/ Crostini ideas for New Year Party

One more year comes to an end! This year has been very special. I took wedding vows with an amazing guy, had a beautiful holiday in New Zealand, gave my readers interesting recipes. It has rather passed fast. It's time now to ring in new year with friends and family. While some like to party at a plush hotel, I enjoy doing a house party with friends.  Back in Bhilwara, Minal di's family would invite me over for new years. We would chit chat, laugh, gather around bonfire and dance till wee hours of morning. Isn't that the idea? I mean to just enjoy and have a good time with company of good food. Be it any celebration or a party, people gather around food as soon as it arrives. Food brings everyone together :) In case you are wondering which appetizers to make for new year party, I have put together 3 of my favourite crostinis/burschetta to accompany alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and get the party going. Brushcetta/crostini is an Italian appetizer which comes...

Strawberry- Brownie Christmas Trifle (Eggless)

Trifle is an English dessert which is typically made by layering cake, fresh fruit, whipped cream and custard. Its a tradition to make Trifles on Christmas. Chocolate and strawberry is a combination which never fails. This trifle incorporates bright red strawberries with fudgy chocolate brownie and smooth chocolate ganache. Fresh strawberry coulis on top gives a tang to the trifle and jazzes it up. I love desserts in small glasses. Its so much fun to experiment and add layers of your choice. We celebrated Christmas in my society this Sunday. I was more than happy to make chocolate cupcakes and brownies for kids. Just when I was wondering what trifle to make, I came up with this dessert  and used left-over brownie and chocolate ganache to make it.  There is no better way to celebrate Christmas than strawberries and I anyways have a weak spot for them. Like mangoes, I am always finding a way to add strawberries in anything that I eat. That red hue of...

Fruit and nut Chocolate bark

I  loved Chirstmas celebration in school. There were plays, dance performances and prayers which was followed by appearance of Santa. I still don't know who became Santa every year! One of the song we always sang was"Joy to the world, the lord has come!" Man, I am missing school and my friends now. I am no Santa but I come bearing this decadent Chocolate bark. This one is bold in flavours! Chocolate+ coffee+ raisins+ roasted almonds, I mean you have got to be from other planet if you don't like all these flavours together! Fruit n nut bar is one of my favourite so I thought of re-creating it by adding some coffee powder. It is so ridiculously easy to make and a perfect gift for you friends this Christmas. I love its uneven pieces which are studded with chewy raisins and roasted almonds. Chocolate bark is a delicious home-made chocolate bar. It is made by spreading melted chocolate over a baking tray and topping it with assorted dried-fruit and nuts. T...

Delicious Strawberry smoothie

When I started blogging I had little idea about blogging, let alone photography. As time passed, I realized how important it is for a photo to look appealing. Photos make connection with readers first, then comes the writing and recipe part. In my free time, I go through numerous blogs to understand the art of photography.  Few of my favourite bloggers are Kankana Saxena , Tanvi , Sneh , Kulsum , Sukaina , Hina , Erin ...I go through their blogs everyday! You must check out their work...it is exceptional! Inspired, I painted my wooden backdrop blue for this post and my my, does it look awesome or what! Those bright red strawberries on blue board!! We made a weekend trip to Panchgani in the month of July, by that time monsoon had started. Panchgani is a hill station in the state of Maharashtra and is one of the major cultivation sites of strawberries in India. Strawberry being a delicate fruit doesn't thrive well during rains. I was lucky I managed to relish some...
